This is part of the book blog tour for Bound By Prophecy by Melissa Wright, organized by Shane at Itching for Books.
Twenty-two-year-old Aern is done watching his brother destroy the only thing that matters. He never wanted to take Morgan’s place among council, never wanted to rule their hidden world. But when the key to the prophecy is found, a young girl named Brianna whom Morgan will destroy, Aern knows he has to take action.
What he really wants, is for things to go back to normal. But now he’s kidnapped a girl, and his brother’s men are after him. His only hope is to join with the Division, but they have plans of their own, and it’s the last thing Aern is willing to do.
Emily just wants her sister back. She doesn’t care about the prophecy, or realize what’s at stake. But when she goes after Aern, the truth of the matter uncoils, and Brianna isn’t the only one who’s in danger.
Suddenly, they’re at the center of a secret war, and unless they can work together, they’ll both have a sacrifice too big to make.
Today, I’m going to share two short excerpts from the book, Bound By Prophecy.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading them.

from Chapter Two
She didn’t speak for a blissful five minutes or so, merely walking behind me.
I wasn’t certain whether she’d been thinking and finally come to a decision or had just realized she’d begun to follow instead of lead when her diligent stride turned into a kind of hopping jog to overtake mine.
“Hey!” she spat when she appeared beside me. She reached out to grab my arm again, but stopped just short, narrowed her eyes, and then drew her hand to her side where it fisted against her leg. I pulled back a smile. So that was it, then. She wasn’t about to let me call her on anything. Not this psycho. “Where, exactly, are we going?” she asked.
I sighed. “To find your sister.”
I could see the argument forming, wanting to tear out of her, but she didn’t seem entirely sure what to do.
“That’s what you want, isn’t it?”
She swallowed. Glanced forward, then back at me. When she spoke, it was almost a whisper. “Where is she?”
from Chapter Twenty-Three
Two men leapt onto the stage to grab Morgan, who had removed the blade and was screaming furious threats at anyone within earshot. I had broken loose of one restraint, but dislocated a thumb in the process and couldn’t free my other hand.
I yelled, “No!” toward Emily as she rushed the stage, but it couldn’t be heard over the din of battle.
Her eyes met Morgan’s as he was dragged behind the hidden door, each of them delivering an unspoken promise before the panel slid closed and broke their connection.
“Look out!” I screamed, and she rolled to the floor just as one of Morgan’s men took a shot at her from the lower level. He spun as a bullet tore through his chest, and she crawled over to cut my straps free.
“What are you doing?” I hissed as she cut the last tie and I could finally grab and shake her.
She stared helplessly for a moment, as if she had no good answer, and then I fell to the ground as my legs collapsed.
