The Beloved Angel-Warrior Team from Until Next Time Returns!

When Matt and Emily are sent on their second mission they have no idea how truly dark human nature can become…

Emily never wanted to face humans again. With the heartache that went on down below, she’s still trying to figure out how to save souls that don’t deserve saving. The only one she wants to see again is Jason – the young man she fell in love with who became the soulmate she simply can’t forget…

Matt was trained to protect and defend the souls down below. Longing to feel the heartfelt emotions that come from being human, Matt wants nothing more than to have just one life – one chance – to live and love the girl of his dreams…

The powerful team find themselves in a brand new century, living in the Gilded Age of New York City. Emily takes over the body of Anya, a young Russian girl who arrives on Ellis Island after a hideous tragedy. There she meets up with a strangely familiar young man by the name of Drew Parrish, who helps Anya survive in an unknown world of luxury, snobbery and… obsession.

What Anya’s inner angel doesn’t know is that the soul she loves is also back. This time around Jason goes by the name of Max Carrow. Once a quiet and kind boy, he’s now part of the ‘Four Hundred Club,’ and wants nothing more than to be among the most admired as he climbs the shaky ladder of society’s elite.

As two worlds merge, Emily and Matt struggle under the weight of their “Gilded Wings.” Not only will they have to figure out who they should fight to save, but they must also face a romantic choice that could destroy them both.

Excerpt from Gilded Wings

Hope babbled incessantly as she introduced Anya and Gregori to the wonderful world of Millionaire’s Row. Drew remained quiet as Hope rambled on, explaining all about the tycoons and moguls who frequented the wealthy area of town.

“The names you’ll hear a lot of, darlin’, are Astor, Vanderbilt and Carnegie. The ‘Big Three,’ let me tell ya’. Between them — and Mitchell, of course — they probably could buy the rest of America and use it as their very own playground. First there’s Andrew Carnegie. He made all his money in the steel industry. He’s what Mitchell calls a ‘self-made’ man; you see, he was poor when he came here from Scotland, but he sure is smart—builds loads of things. There’s even a place called Carnegie Hall in the city that puts on all sorts of shows,” she said. “It’s beautiful inside. Carnegie’s a real good man — spends loads of his money on libraries, schools and such.”

“Sounds kind.”

Drew snorted, “Maybe.”

“What?” Anya turned to him inquisitively.

He shrugged. “My father used to say that a man who spends that much has a guilty conscience. Maybe Carnegie just thinks that giving his money away is the only way he can get into Heaven now. God knows who he had to step on to get all of it in the first place.”

“I don’t understand.” Anya waited for an explanation.

Hope cut him off and took Anya’s hand as the trio struggled to keep up with the young boys chattering on in front of them. “Don’t pay him any mind, Anya. Drew is a paranoid sort. He thinks if you have money, you had to have been the worst type of person to get it.”

Don’t miss out on what Amy has to share on Jason and Matt in her guest post!

How Would Emily’s ‘Love’ Propose?

Guest Post
By Amy Lignor

When you think about the books and movies throughout time, what comes to mind as your favorite proposal? I have to stick with Mr. Darcy. When he said lines like: “I love you most ardently.” And “If your feelings are still the same, tell me now.  My feelings and wishes have not changed.” The dude had it going on. All I want to do is go back in time, sit with the mistress of romance – Ms. Austen – and have her give me the inside ‘skinny’
on who Mr. Darcy really was. Because I know that woman based him on someone amazing.

So it made me think… If Jason is the one Emily ends up with – if their first love from Until Next Time  can stay strong even with the twist that Gilded Wings  brings to them both – how would that nice Irish boy propose? We know he’s dark and dreamy. We know he has a ‘bad boy’ side that’s just sitting in there waiting to come through. But I would think he’d take her back to that angel in the field, get down on one knee, and tell her that he is her soul mate. He would say all the right words – rivaling Mr. Darcy with his show of romantic lines until Emily could barely breathe and basically said ‘Yes,’ just as fast as humanly and angelically possible before he got away.

When it comes to Matthew, I see no tuxedo; I see no bouquets of roses or sonnets streaming from his lips. I see something more along the lines of strength and power.  Matthew would talk to Emily about their lives together. He would remind her that they stood by each other no matter what, or who, had tried to get in their way. He would also remind her that he’s the owner of the ear she always spoke into, and that he’s the owner of the heart that holds the loyalty that had him standing in front of her for protection, behind her for support, and beside her as they took on the world with their partnership.

Would he have a romantic line or two? Oh, yes. After all, Matthew has been hanging out with Mark in order to learn the ins and outs of the romantic side of people ‘down below.  His blue eyes would be serious, even though the side of his mouth would turn up a bit, knowing that his partner was embarrassed by moments of outspoken love. There would always have to be that ’best friend’ annoyance when it came to Mathew because they’ve been together for so long, but I also know that he is a warrior. Which means he has the power to reach out, grab on to Emily and give her a kiss that would rival all the romantic couples of our time – past and present.

We shall see. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out – who ends up on the good side of life and who ends up on the bad. And it will be interesting to see who, exactly, is Emily’s soul mate in the long run, as she battles the twists and turns of life.

Team Jason? Team Matt? Who should win? Let me know what you think!

Until Next Time, Everybody,
Amy

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the ‘life’ they’ve been assigned. What they don’t realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz’s establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel’s path and a warrior’s plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that’s ripping them apart.

  1. Henrietta, you always do such a fabulous job with the posts on your blog. Thanks for inviting Amy and the angels to stop by today. We’re delighted to have you participate in the blog tour for ‘Gilded Wings.’ Thanks for sharing the release of book 2 of ‘The Angel Chronicles’ series with your followers.

  2. The cover immediately pulled me in! On Angel books you see the beauty of their wings, but this one shows the beauty of their soul as an angel! I haven’t read this series before, but its sounds brilliant! Thanks for sharing! :)

  6. What a lovely cover! *drools*

Even though the field has been saturated with angel books, I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of it. It speaks to my whimsy, like fairies do. Speaking of which, I’d love to read a book about toys. (Okay, that was random.)

I like how the author talks about proposals. And mentioning Mr. Darcy’s. I love Mr. Darcy’s proposal. It takes my breath away every time. If a guy could speak like that to me *swoon*

I’ll definitely be checking out this series, Henrietta! Thank you for the heads up~

  7. I read the first book and liked it so I should probably catch up and read the second book now! :)

  8. Henrietta – I wanted to stop by and say thank you so much for having Emily & Matt back. I hope you and your readers will love their second adventure. And I want to say thank you to everybody who left a message about them. I, too, drool over those covers LOL. I was extremely lucky to find an artist who was ‘BEYOND COOL!’ And seeing Emily’s face in my mind as those two men proposed was a really fun blog to do. You’ll never guess who, how, when, why and where the real proposal will come from. Tune in to Book III for the answer LOL. Happy 2013, everyboday!
