The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.
Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.
Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.
Captivated. Lured. Loved.
Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence…and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.
Shadows is a Lux novella. It’s a story about Daemon’s brother, Dawson.
Daemon, Dawson and Dee are triplets. Daemon, being the oldest, feels that he has a duty to protect his younger siblings. Dawson seems to be more carefree. He likes the outdoor and yearns to be free from the rules set by the Department of Defense. When Bethany shows up at school in winter, Dawson feels immediately attracted to her. Even though he knows the risk that may be involved when he dates a human girl, he can’t help but to fall in love with Bethany.
The love story between Dawson and Bethany is beautiful and bittersweet. Since I’ve read Obsidian, I know how Dawson’s story is going to end. But I still find myself liking everything about Dawson and Bethany. Dawson is confident but not as stiff and arrogant as his brother. Although he is not as powerful as Daemon in his true form, he is not afraid to confront and fight his alien enemies. Bethany loves to paint and she has an amiable personality. It’s just so sweet to watch how they both fall for one another and how happy they are when they’re together!
Since this is a novella, it is shorter than Obsidian but I still enjoy it tremendously as it has a fair amount of action and heated tension.
Personally, I like Shadows as much as I like Obsidian, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Onyx (the second installment of the Lux series) when it is released in August! 😉
